Best Sig P239 Holster

Leather or Kydex Holster?

The P239 was one of the first CCW pistols made, at a time when leather holsters were still common.

Thus, many who are still carrying the P239 stick to their leather rigs. And typically don’t carry in the appendix position, which in my opinion, is preferable due to being the quickest way to draw (for most people), when carrying IWB.

There is a tradeoff – Kydex is faster and more consistent for drawing, but might wear out the finish on your gun more

Best Sig P239 Holster

No introduction, lets cut straight to the chase. (I’ll put the intro below this if you would like to kill more time reading).

For me (carrying AIWB in kydex) the best holster for the P239 is the Vedder LightTuck. Before you click away, let me explain:

As venerable owners of a fine relic CCW, a product of what some might call the pinnacle of recent civilization, we find there aren’t much holster options for the P239. Especially if you’re looking to carry it appendix.

Vedder Light Tuck Pros / Cons

Pros

  • Adjustable cant, if you’d like to customize it
  • Quick and easy to take off on and off, throughout the day
  • Claw aids in concealability
  • Can easily attach a pillow / wedge with velcro
  • Affordably priced

Cons

  • Clips and claw aren’t the best, but you can easily upgrade to DCC clips and a DSG Dark Wing

Recommended Add-Ons

To get the most comfort and concealability, I recommend the following accessories. They not too expensive, and make whatever AIWB holster you get much better to run:

  • DCC Clips (To better clip onto your belt / pants)
  • Mastermind Tactics Pillow (A comfortable cushion that you attach to your holster, that presses against your leg to act as a “wedge” that presses the grip of your gun into your body, and keeps it from printing. For the P239, get the “Wedge” size pillow.)
  • Dark Wing by Dark Star (An upgraded “claw” for your holster. Many state it works much better than standard claws / wings)
  • A good gun belt (to support your gun + holster, and keep it from sagging / bouncing around)
